BIOGRAPHY:  The publication of Randal Marlin’s Propaganda and the Ethics of Persuasion in 2002 established him as one of the world’s leading authorities on propaganda. A 2nd edition was recently published in October 2013. His book was the fruition of many years of teaching a course on “Truth and Propaganda” to philosophy and journalism students at Carleton University where he is Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy. As Vice-President of the International Jacques Ellul Society, Randal is organizing a conference on Ellul in Ottawa, July 13-15, 2014, on the theme of communicating humanly in an age of technology and spin. Randal holds degrees in philosophy from Princeton (AB), McGill (MA), and Toronto (Ph.D.).
