Shakespeare: A Celebration

Shakespeare: A Celebration – Wednesday, May 18

This celebration will commemorate the genius of Shakespeare for the 4th centenary of his death in 2016. The evening will consist of scenes and readings from the bard’s works and will be hosted by the Shakespearean scholar Dr.Ian Cameron who will introduce Shakespeare and set the passages in context.

The following readings will be given:

  1. O for a muse of fire! (Henry V Prologue 1)
  2. We few, we happy few (Henry V, 4.3.19)
  3. Catherine and Alice (Henry V, 3.4.1)
  4. To be or not to be (Hamlet, 3.1.58)
  5. I cannot say “whore” (Othello, 4.2.152)
  6. O, these men, these men (Othello, 4.3.58)
  7. Soft you a word or two (Othello, 5.2.347)
  8. We will proceed no further (Macbeth 1.7.31)
  9. She should have died hereafter (Macbeth 5.5.16)
  10. If you have tears (Julius Caesar, 3.2.167)
  11. Blow winds (King Lear, 3.2.1)
  12. What light through yonder (Romeo and Juliet, 2.1.44)
  13. Transform me to an oyster, The world must be peopled (Much Ado About Nothing, 2.3.8, 209)
  14. I pray you tarry (The Merchant of Venice, 3.2.1)
  15. That roasted Manningtree ox (Henry IV, Part 1, 1.2.5.376)
  16. I have possessed your grace, The quality of mercy (The Merchant of Venice, 4.1.34, 181)
  17. But this rough magic (The Tempest, 5.1.33)

The performers will be (in alphabetical order): Jason Abdelhadi, Josh Beer, Douglas Campbell,  David daCosta, Lyndra Griffith, Shannon Kehoe, Gail Larose, Rebecca Warmington.
